Monroeville communications department wins national Alliance for Community Media award

Monroeville, Pa. — The Municipality of Monroeville recognized Jared Robinson and the communications department on July 8 after the department received a national Hometown Media Award from the Alliance for Community Media for overall excellence in governmental access.
Mayor Greaslock and council members praised the department’s year‑long work. Council said the department’s winning entry was a compilation—stopped at the award program’s 20‑minute limit—highlighting 2024 coverage that included reporting on the convention center, municipal meetings, live events, the opening of pickleball courts and reopening the gateway project. The mayor noted previous winners include Takoma Park, Md.; Shelby Township, Mich.; Carmel, Ind.; and Fairfax County, Va.
Jared Robinson accepted the award in Boston and said the department’s work is supported by two full‑time staff and five part‑time staff, municipal departments and the community. Robinson was quoted in the meeting saying, “these things are already happening in Monroeville; we just show up, press record to capture it, then put it out for the world to see.” The communications department will post the winning entry on the municipality’s YouTube page.
