Summary
Weber County authorized staff to request a state grant-extension to Sept. 30 for a wayfinding-sign project in Ogden Valley and confirmed plans to install a set of smaller vehicle and trail signs this summer.
Weber County commissioners on Thursday approved a staff request to seek a state-authorized extension until Sept. 30 to finish a previously funded wayfinding-sign project in Ogden Valley.
County staff said weather and competing road projects delayed sign installation this spring and that the state is willing to grant an extension to allow the county to complete foundations and attach smaller vehicle- and trail-oriented wayfinding signs. Staff said roads crews will mark installation sites this week and foundations will cure, with attachment scheduled once the county roads department is available.
The project consists primarily of smaller signs sized for lower-speed county roads; staff said 28 signs will be installed countywide in the valley area and that 6–7 of those are vehicle-oriented but smaller than larger arterial signage. Commissioners said they reviewed sample images of installed signs in other jurisdictions and expressed support; officials noted they had briefed newly elected local officials in Huntsville, who reacted positively.
Ending: staff will file the state extension paperwork, proceed with marking and foundation work, and schedule installation with county roads crews; the commission gave general support for the plan.
