The court approved change order No. 3 to replace electrical components to support upgraded FuelMaster hardware for the Road & Bridge fuel facility; funding comes from the Road & Bridge department.
Smith County Commissioners Court on Wednesday approved change order No. 3 in the amount of $6,634 to the construction contract with SCI Construction for Road & Bridge fuel-facility improvements.
Why this matters: The change order completes electrical work needed to support recently installed FuelMaster hardware (tank monitors, pumps and card reader) and allows the county’s fuel facility to operate with the upgraded inventory system.
County Road & Bridge Director (presenter identified as Mr. Davis) said the facility was about 95–96 percent complete but the facility’s existing electrical components could not support the new hardware. "The electrical components that were provided that were already in existence will not support the new improvement," Davis said, calling for a new electrical box, switches, cabling and conduit.
The court approved the change order by voice vote. Motion to accept the change order was made by Commissioner Harrod and seconded by Commissioner Carraway; the court voted "aye" and the motion carried. County staff said the $6,634 will be paid from Road & Bridge departmental funds.
The work is intended to finish the FuelMaster upgrade so that the county can track fuel inventory and card-transaction data through the new hardware and software.
