Commissioners noted the program could support rent, utility payments, or other direct aid once a housing official and office are in place.
Next steps: staff said they are recruiting for the new housing director and assistant and will move program money into the housing division when the position is filled if the commission so directs. The commission asked staff to retitle the line from "residential maintenance assistance" to a broader "residential assistance grant" and to consider program parameters during future CIP and budget follow-ups.
