Randall County accepted a donation of used artificial turf from West Texas A&M University on June 10 to install at the Gary E. Robinson Memorial Firearms Range.
Sheriff’s Office staff and the range master, Sgt. Clayman, said the university replaced turf at its softball fields and offered the used material for county reuse. Staff described the turf as a way to reduce mud and standing-water issues from the 25-yard line through the 100-yard line at the range and said leftover turf would be used near office areas.
The court thanked university partners and approved accepting the gift by a 4-0 vote.
