During the July 9 meeting staff provided operations updates including execution of the village's portion of a lease with Verizon for Water Tower 3, ongoing valve exercising tied to next year's street projects and completion of a new water service at Fireman's Park.
Staff said the village executed its side of the Verizon lease and would send the agreement to Verizon for their execution; one final permit and a contractor start date remained pending. The village continues valve exercising, prioritizing streets anticipated for pulverize-and-reconstruct paving next year so valves are known to be operable before pavement work.
Staff also reported the water service at Fireman's Park was completed the previous Monday; a new shutoff and blowoff are in place. During the work crews uncovered an older buried valve (staff referred to it as dating to 1906) that had not been functioning; after excavation the valve now works and was exercised successfully.
These items were presented as informational updates; commissioners asked no follow-up action beyond continued operations and reporting.
