Business Administrator Stephanie Cutrack asked the New Milford Board of Education on Nov. 16 to table agenda item BA‑21 to allow time to review documents provided late by a parent and to provide additional information at a future meeting.
Cutrack said she had circulated preliminary budget documents on Nov. 15 to building administrators to support 2022–23 planning and said the district is pursuing a form of zero‑based budgeting where programs are costed from the ground up. She offered to meet individually with administrators to walk them through the budget process.
On Hurricane Ida recovery, Cutrack reported staff compiled a comprehensive list of costs, invoices and documentation for the insurance adjuster; cleanup work is underway and grounds equipment replacements and a power washing of the track remain in progress. She said quotes and invoices have been gathered and more information will follow.
During a finance/FA committee discussion, members asked whether units listed for disposal were part of a trade‑in lease program or had passed their useful life and required disposal. Cutrack explained some Chromebooks are being retired because they no longer receive updates and are being disposed, while other, more recent leased units follow a return/renew process. The board voted later in the meeting to approve a set of financial agenda items while BA‑21 remained tabled.
Cutrack closed by reiterating support for administrators as budget season approaches and thanked staff involved in cleanup and documentation efforts. The board recorded motions approving several financial and program items later in the agenda; votes were taken by roll call with multiple approvals recorded as passing 9–0.
