Business administrator reports 3.2% district meal-price increase; board extends food-service contract

Mister Gibbs reported at the May 27 board meeting that negotiations produced a lower-than-proposed increase to student meal prices for 2025–26.
"I was able to negotiate a better percentage increase for the high school meals for the 2025–2026 school year," Gibbs said. "The percentage increase is 3.2% for all schools instead of 3.6% for the high school. This represents a 15¢ increase per meal for all schools, and a copy of the breakdown has been provided to the board for their approval."
Later in the meeting the board moved and approved a block of FFA (food service) agenda items, described in the record as FFA 167‑25 through FFA 188‑25. A roll-call during the vote recorded support from the board; the motion carried. During discussion board members asked whether the management fee or guarantee language had changed from previous years. The board was told the action extended the existing contract for another year and that the management-fee language had not changed.
Why this matters: meal-price changes affect families who pay reduced, full or a la carte rates and the district's food-service budget. Contract extensions preserve operational continuity while the district continues vendor oversight.
The board approved the FFA block of items by roll call. Recorded votes during the FFA motion included "Mister Bloomer? Yes. Mister Cerisi? Yes. Mister Giddon? Yes. Miss Icao? Yes. Mister McSweeney? Board members discussed the pricing and confirmed the contractor increased food prices consistent with the negotiated percentage while management fee/guarantee language remained unchanged.
