Oakland to publish downloadable school calendar and boost preschool, kindergarten registration; summer program planned

Superintendent Dr. McDowell told the board the district will publish a downloadable 2025–26 calendar that families can add to phones or Google calendars and receive automated updates when dates change. Dr. McDowell said preschool letters have been sent and families should confirm registrations; the district is actively pursuing kindergarten enrollment and will send additional registration information. The district will host the Healthy Kids Summer program at Oakland this year; Dr. McDowell said the program will operate June 23 through Aug. 15 and that registration details will be sent to families who have not yet received them. The superintendent also reported enrollment figures included in the written reports: 269 (April 2024) and 272 (April 2025).
