Warren council ratifies multiple labor agreements, including police contract approved by membership

The Warren City Council on Tuesday reviewed and ratified tentative agreements with multiple bargaining units, including the Warren Police Officers Association (WPOA) and two other local unions.
Councilwoman Mindy Moore praised staff and negotiators for resolving three contracts since the current administration took office. City Controller Richard Fox described the WPOA agreement as “a fair contract for both the city and the WPOA.” Mike Sager, speaking for the WPOA, said the membership voted with more than 91% in favor; he noted the union represents about 231 members of the police department.
The council voted unanimously to ratify the WPOA tentative agreement. Separate motions to ratify agreements with a district court bargaining unit (identified in the agenda as “30 seventh District Court, local 227”) and GELC local 227 also passed unanimously; council members thanked negotiators on both sides.
The meeting did not include detail on contract economic terms, effective dates, or implementation steps beyond ratification. Council members said they would follow up as needed with administrative staff on implementation.
