Troutdale Planning Commission elects Tim Stephenson chair, Shirley Perkett vice chair; new members introduced

The Troutdale Planning Commission on July 9 welcomed new commissioners, elected officers for the 2025–26 year and heard staff announcements about upcoming meetings and a new city manager hire.
New members introduced themselves: Sandy Glantz said she felt “like I’ve come home” after returning to the commission; Adrian Kester said he is a recent volunteer seeking to bring “different perspectives” from his experience living near town center; and Frank Stevens identified himself as a 34-year resident and active local volunteer.
Commissioners then nominated and elected leadership for the year. A motion to nominate Tim Stephenson for chair carried by roll call; Commissioners voted to elect Shirley Perkett as vice chair. The commission completed routine roll-call voting and recorded the results at the meeting; the officers will serve for the 2025–26 term.
In staff communications, planning staff announced upcoming events and meeting dates: Movies in the Park on July 25, the first-Friday event on Aug. 1, and regular Planning Commission meetings scheduled for July 23, Aug. 13, and Sept. 10. Staff also noted a special meeting later in July to process a conditional use permit for Reynolds School District so the district can complete tenant improvements before school opens.
Chair Stephenson also announced city hiring news: Ray Young will retire in August as city manager and an incoming manager, Mr. Westin, is scheduled to start on Aug. 25; staff said Westin comes from King City. Commissioners welcomed the new members and thanked returning members. No formal policy action accompanied the elections and introductions.
