Board approves temporary easement for City of Mason road project near middle school

The Mason City School District board approved a temporary easement to allow the City of Mason to make traffic improvements at the Tylersville Road and Mason‑Montgomery Road intersection next to Mason Middle School.
District presenters described the city project as adding turn lanes, moving crosswalks back for safety and installing other safety features; construction is planned for March 2026. The district’s approval gives the city temporary access that reaches into district property so the work can be completed.
A district official clarified there is no cost to the school for the work and said the city will fund any sign removal or traffic‑flow changes that become necessary. The board noted it will coordinate with the city about traffic during construction and directed residents with questions to contact the City of Mason, not the school district.
Administrators also said the project could require temporary adjustments to traffic flow at the middle school during construction and that the city will work with the district to minimize disruption.
