Brad Trapnell, owner of What's on Tap? Keller, said he opened the neighborhood taproom after homebrewing to provide a family-friendly place with a strong craft-beer selection. "There was nothing that offered a really cool craft beer selection in a place that was friendly and down home in a place where you could even bring your kids," Trapnell said.
Trapnell said the business prioritizes a rotating, balanced tap list that represents major beer styles and highlights seasonals and new releases. "We are constantly rotating our tap list. The overall philosophy is that we want a balanced tap list for all the major beer styles represented," he said, adding the shop aims to "have a little something for everyone."
He described the customer mix as heavily regulars but welcoming to newcomers: "At any given time, probably 60 to 70% of the people coming in are regulars, but we also want the first timers to come in and feel welcome." Trapnell said the taproom intentionally avoids an exclusionary tone: "We're beer nerds. We're not beer snobs."
Trapnell said the business sells "great beer and atmosphere," and described Keller as having a strong sense of community. He noted the business is approaching nine years in the neighborhood and said staff are "really excited about that."
