Resident urges council to appoint Steve Bell as White Oak police chief

"I'm here tonight to respectfully ask you to consider Steve Bell as White Oak police chief," Muncher said, recounting Bell's involvement in active‑shooter training and his role in helping train local officers. Muncher, who described decades of law‑enforcement experience of his own, said he believed Bell would be a leader who could both "soldier and lead." "We need a chief that can soldier and lead. Being a nice guy doesn't necessarily make you a good leader," Muncher said.
Muncher said he was not speaking on behalf of any organization and that his support was based on his professional observations. Council did not take an immediate personnel vote during the meeting. The borough's public‑safety committee reported it had been reviewing chief applicants and was scheduling interview dates and questions for the first round of in‑person interviews.
