Kim told the commission the city has bands and food vendors lined up for the summer concerts and described volunteer needs: “We do have the summer concerts tent coverage. And, in talking with Amy, we have somebody at the early stage for each concert. The second hour, we don't have coverage at all of concerts. I can send the list around, and, also, Amy has said the first part is the most important part, so that she can be moving around.”
Amy and Kim asked commissioners to sign up for early-shift tent coverage and said they will re-circulate the volunteer sign-up link through the city social channels. The events coordinator said activity monitors are needed for themed-shelter activities (for example, robotics and child-friendly stations) and emphasized these volunteer roles are open to the broader community; by contrast, the city tent is intended for commissioners and city staff.
Commissioners offered suggestions for targeted, just-in-time outreach to recruit volunteers during the week of each concert and said they would share the sign-up information with community partners. Kim said the concerts will include themed nights and activities and encouraged commissioners to “spread the word.”
