The Greenwood Stormwater Board approved a professional-services agreement July 9 for conceptual and design work on a proposed stormwater annex native-prairie maze, authorizing $19,700 for design services and requiring a 50% conceptual design be presented at the next board meeting.
Staff reported they solicited a schematic proposal from an RDA (design) firm familiar with Greenwood projects. The scope includes a topographic survey, conceptual design, development of construction documents and cost estimates for an approximately 3½-acre area identified for the project. Staff said the proposer estimated a 4-to-6-week timeline for the conceptual design and indicated cost estimates could be plus or minus 20 percent at the conceptual stage. Staff emphasized they wanted a native-plant focus and a project that balances stormwater messaging with wildlife habitat.
The board discussed scope control and agreed that the consultant should deliver a 50% conceptual design at the next Stormwater Board meeting so the board can manage project scope and cost before final design proceeds. A motion to approve a professional-services agreement with Burnsworker Associates in the amount of $19,700 for design services was made, stipulating the 50% conceptual design presentation requirement and leaving final terms and conditions to the legal department; the motion passed by voice vote, with all present board members saying "aye."
