Board members said the fee changes are meant to reflect higher costs for labor, supplies and insurance while keeping the course’s rates competitive. Mr. Vieri, the presenter of the handbook changes, said, "We did a lot of research, and we think we got a pretty good price there for that" when describing proposed pricing for a new driving-range and simulator offering that will be rented by the hour.
The new handbook text also standardizes age definitions for student and junior passes, revises twilight-rate timing to a 4:00 p.m. start for twilight pricing, and removes the annual cart-registration fee by rolling it into the trail-pass. Staff and board members acknowledged there remain internal inconsistencies in the draft definitions that will be corrected administratively; one board member pointed out that the draft still listed overlapping student/junior age ranges and said staff would fix them.
The resolution, described in the meeting as amending the 2023 handbook resolution, includes language to allow dynamic pricing for the simulator and to set new driving-range fees next year. The board was told that the driving range is being developed and the city plans to invest in a full-size range, with pricing to vary by demand.
Supporters on the board said the increases keep Logansport’s fees below area private-course rates while generating additional operating revenue; one presenter reported that overall golf revenue was up 8% compared with the prior year. The board approved the resolution by voice vote; the clerk recorded the motion and announced the measure had passed.
The board did not record individual roll-call votes during the meeting. Staff said further administrative cleanups (age brackets and terminology) will be made to the handbook language before publication.
Looking ahead, staff flagged related capital work tied to the golf operation: expansion of the driving range and installation of a simulator were discussed as revenue drivers, and the board noted cart fleet replacement timing tied to an existing loan will inform future daily cart fees.
