Kane County emergency management trims emergency plan, readies mobile operations center and recovery group

The director said the "current plan is about...600 pages," and staff are "thinning it out" to remove unnecessary material. The goal is a more concise base plan followed by department annexes and role-specific sections.
On operational equipment, the director said the county ordered a new vehicle labeled a "mobile operation center" with a projected delivery in late August; staff plan to travel to Wisconsin to pick it up around August 28. The county is preparing garage layout and vehicle housing plans to replace the old unit.
The director also announced the first meeting of a county recovery group focused initially on mass care, mass sheltering and damage assessment; the group will be staffed by potential leadership from several departments and expand over time.
