The Village Board of Trustees of Morton on June 16 approved a resolution authorizing an agreement with Axon Enterprise Inc. to add two body‑worn cameras and two tasers for two newly added police officers at a cost of $66,682.40, which the village said was budgeted for this year.
The item, brought by the chief of police, was described as an add‑on to the department’s existing officer safety plan. The chief said the purchase is needed because the department recently added two officers (referred to as officers 26 and 27) and equipment must be issued before they complete field assignments.
“This is just an add on to that and the amount of $66,682.40, which was budgeted this year,” the chief of police said. The village clerk called the roll and trustees voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
Board members did not request additional study or modifications; the resolution was presented as a budgeted procurement and approved by roll call.
