The New Berlin Tourism Commission unanimously approved modifications to its grant program at the June 2025 meeting, including updates to point distribution on the scoring rubric, an overall $10,000 limit and a $5,000 limit per event.
Presenting the Request for Action Statement (RAS), DCD staff member Kelly said the packet included the changes discussed at a prior meeting and added examples showing how the $10,000 and $5,000 limits would be allocated. Kelly also reported that postcards with approved dates had been sent and that staff had received a number of grant reimbursement forms from applicants working to finish this year’s events and prepare 2026 applications.
Kelly said the amendment allows applicants to apply for multiple events or for two events and that, for administrative efficiency, staff will group related applications when presenting them to the commission for review. Kelly described the grouping as a clerical change that would not affect applicants’ eligibility or scoring.
A commissioner moved to accept the modifications and another commissioner seconded; no individual names for the motion and second were recorded in the meeting transcript. The commission voted and the motion “passes unanimously,” according to the meeting record.
The amendment was approved as presented. Staff will continue processing reimbursements and will accept applications under the revised rubric and limits for 2026 grant rounds.
