The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Board of Trustees voted to adopt the nominating committee’s slate for board officers, installing Senator Todd Pillion as chair, Keith Perrigan as vice chair and Steve Ahn as secretary for the 2020–2022 term.
The slate was presented by President Brian Hemphill of Radford University, who said, “The nominating committee, which consists of Senator Ben Chasten, Keith Perrigan, as well as myself, respectfully submit the following nominees for the board officers.” Hemphill moved to adopt the committee’s report; a board member seconded the motion and members approved it by voice vote.
The election was taken up under the board’s agenda item for officer selection after the executive committee had temporarily acted in lieu of a full board during the COVID-19 emergency. The chair announced that the newly elected officers will serve the 2020–2022 term.
No roll-call vote tally was recorded in the transcript; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote with no opposition announced. The board chair said the vacancy in the chair position would be filled during this item, and the board proceeded directly to the nomination and adoption of the slate.
The action concluded with the chair congratulating the new officers and noting the board’s intent to continue its work during the pandemic.
