Wauwatosa — The Government Affairs Committee on June 3 recommended approval of a Class B beer and Class B liquor license for 2 Asian Cuisine LLC, the new owner of the restaurant at 8820 West North Avenue that previously operated under the Huy’s name.
City staff told the committee that the business previously held a Class B beer and liquor license and that the new owner will surrender the prior license and seek a new license in the new owner’s name. Staff reported a cleared background check for the agent and recommended approval; staff also said planning staff contacted the owner about a potential conditional-use permit update that may be required.
Nali Wapaa, identified in the record as the manager and representing the new owner, said the restaurant was busy and that ownership could not attend in person. Committee members welcomed the new owner; Alder Phillips said, "Glad to have some sushi down the road." The committee made a motion to approve the license and passed the item on a voice vote.
Staff recorded that if a conditional-use permit update is required, planning staff are already in contact with the owner to resolve any outstanding zoning or permit issues prior to final action.
