District administrators told the board on Jan. 8 that strategic-plan outreach is underway and several school programs and donations are advancing.
Assistant and central-office leaders reported that the district's first strategic-plan meeting drew more than 70 participants, and the district survey had collected 352 responses as of the meeting; staff said a reminder would be sent and the survey closes around Jan. 17 or Jan. 18. Administrators asked board members to encourage community participation ahead of the next strategic-plan meeting on Feb. 27.
The district said a second edition of the T-Bird Times newsletter had been printed and would be mailed later that week to spotlight district programs and a board message. Superintendent-level presenters also highlighted student activities — including robotics, arts and athletics — and reported that Mahwah High School was selected as an ITEEA 2024–25 STEM School of Excellence, an award announced by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association and its sponsor Siemens.
Administrators said grounds supervisor Greg Romero and others had arranged for a local company to donate a scoreboard and installation at Ramapo Ridge Field; staff said the board will see a resolution to accept the donation on the next meeting agenda while department staff finalize specifications and electrical checks.
Board members and administrators promoted upcoming community events sponsored by the Mahwah Schools Foundation, and the board was shown details about the high school's robotics competition, scheduled for March 8 at Mount Olive Regional High School.
