City seeks final three metering collectors for automated water system at $228,307.50

City utility staff recommended purchasing three remaining automated-metering collectors (census base stations) from Coromain of North Little Rock for $228,307.50, to replace unsupported software and components and ensure continued automated collection and compatibility with the city’s metering portal, staff said July 8.
Luke Lingo, presenting the packet item for utility billing and meter maintenance, said the municipal water system uses a sensor-based automated metering system and that outdated software/components are no longer supported. He told the board six of nine collectors have already been replaced and that this purchase (the final three) was included in the 2025 budget. Board members asked about the expected lifespan of the upgrade; staff said a 10–20 year lifespan is expected depending on component improvements, with 20 years the goal and current units projecting about 15 years for these three.
Staff recommended awarding the purchase under ACA 14-58-104 (city procurement citation in packet) to Coromain as the sole vendor for the area; formal board action is scheduled for July 15.
