Byrne said his organization has grown into “the largest provider of telemedicine, prep for this HIV prevention in the state of Florida.” He thanked the commission for prior support and described partnerships with Miami Beach that helped launch mobile services.
The proclamation recognized Byrne’s journalism career, advocacy on LGBTQ issues and his nonprofit’s work on public-health outreach. The presentation was ceremonial; no city funding vote or new contract was recorded on the floor during the meeting.
