The measures were presented and voted on during new-business discussion about upcoming trips, the summer movie outing and the fall and winter social calendar. The group also confirmed plans to continue health lectures coordinated with Mount Sinai and set a tentative movie date of Monday, July 28.
Most immediately, the group “revised the motion to set a budget of $10 per person to prepurchase snacks and nonalcoholic beverages, whether they be water or sodas,” a motion members voted to approve. Organizers said the pre-purchase is intended to prevent members from having to make individual purchases at venues where prices were described as high; venue policy was noted that sealed, factory‑sealed unflavored water is limited to 20 ounces or smaller per person.
For upcoming social events, members approved reimbursing Maria Borges up to $8 per table to prepare Halloween centerpieces for 16 tables and approved an online purchase of 20 Christmas centerpieces as described by Borges. Both purchases were approved by voice vote.
The group directed members to seek quotes for catering for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, discussing options that included local providers and paella-style catering; planners stated an estimated service size for holiday meals of about 125 people and asked volunteers to gather price estimates for adobo/pollo-style and turkey offerings.
