The Middle Country Central School District Board of Education approved an appointment of an additional instructional staff member to create a second section of AP Chemistry at Newfield High School, responding to student requests made at an earlier meeting.
Board officials said students who spoke at the June 11 meeting will be notified that their schedules now include AP Chemistry. The board’s statement described the appointment as a response to public input received at the prior meeting.
The superintendent’s office also noted that negotiations with the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) remain in process; a status report on those contract negotiations was promised in September. The board took the action during follow-up discussion at the July 8 meeting and recorded the motion as carried.
