Middle Country board elects Dawn Chirac president, names Robert Feeney vice president; student reps sworn in

At its July 8 organizational meeting the Middle Country Central School District Board of Education unanimously elected Dawn Chirac president and appointed Robert Feeney vice president. Two student ex officio board members were also sworn in.
Dawn Chirac was elected president of the Middle Country Central School District Board of Education and sworn into office at the board’s July 8 organizational meeting; Robert Feeney was chosen as vice president and also sworn in.
Chirac won the president’s post by a unanimous vote reported as 7 to 0 after a nomination and second. Board members then administered the oath of office to newly reelected trustees and to the district’s officers.
The board also swore in its two ex officio student representatives: Rose Miller of Centereach High School and Dylan Blake of Newfield High School. Both students spoke briefly at the meeting; Blake said, “I’m very excited for this opportunity and excited to see what this year holds,” and Miller said she was “very grateful to be here.”
After her election Chirac thanked colleagues: “I want to thank my colleagues for once again, entrusting me to be president of the board. I look forward to it. It’s an honor and, here’s to a good school year.”
The new officers will serve for the 2025–26 school year. The board adjourned the organizational portion of the meeting and proceeded to regular business.
