Board members reported July 9 they recently met with Chris Young, the Santa Cruz County deputy county manager, to request that the county open a passageway at the Rio Rico Library. Trustees said the county asked the board to prioritize between signage improvements and that small infrastructure project; opening the passageway has not yet occurred and a county follow-up is pending.
Trustees asked about larger exterior signage at Rio Rico, Tubac and Sonoita to make branch locations clearer. The board did not set a timeline but said signage and the passageway remain priorities to discuss with county staff.
Library staff told trustees they are reviewing and revising the library system policy and procedure manual and will route changes through legal counsel for approval. Staff also described a Polaris/Vega system rollout and said they will circulate sign-up sheets so trustees can visit branches, learn the new patron system and help promote it to users.
No formal facility approvals, purchases or contractual decisions were made at the July 9 meeting; trustees said further steps will await county responses and legal review of revised policies.
