Averill Park board swears in officials, elects Samantha Hicks president and Jesse Black vice president

The Averill Park Central School District Board of Education on July 9 administered oaths of office to newly elected members and completed leadership elections that named Samantha Hicks president of the board and Jesse Black vice president.

Board members repeated the oath of office for the superintendent and for newly elected board members before proceeding to nominations. Samantha Hicks was nominated and elected board president; Jesse Black was nominated and elected vice president in a subsequent vote.

The nominations and votes followed the ceremonial oaths and a brief organizational agenda that also assigned members to standing committees including advocacy, policy, facilities, safety and audit committees. Committee appointments were moved, seconded and approved during the meeting.
