Weber County approves Ogden Valley trail wayfinding signs, requests state extension for installation

The Weber County Commission approved wayfinding signs for Ogden Valley trails and, according to county staff, requested an extension from the state to complete installation.

The action was presented by Commissioner Gage Frower and described by Rick Grover, director of Planning and Zoning, who said the majority of the signs "are for trails" and that the county had asked the state for an extension because installation "has taken a lot of time." Grover said the signs are intended to help users navigate the trail system, identify trailheads and reduce traffic on minor roads.

"They'll know exactly where a trail goes," Frower said, describing the anticipated benefit for residents and visitors. Grover added that a few smaller signs will be placed along minor roads but that most signs are trail markers.

Frower also said county staff work to ensure that land use is followed "according to state code and county ordinance." The commission's recap said staff has received "great feedback from both residents and visitors about how important those signs are in the valley." The meeting remarks did not include a vote tally or the specific deadline for the state extension.
