County staff seek $1.2 million amendment for county building repairs and ceiling upgrade

Staff said the increase reflects additional items identified during further investigation and the inclusion of a lobby redo.
“Pretty much, what I'm asking for today is the authority to give an approval for this amount, and it's to execute the contract amendment with DES,” a staff member told the commissioners. The staff member characterized the figure as a guaranteed maximum price increase from about $1.1 million to roughly $1.2 million, and said the amendment would include reinforcing walls and bracing to meet current code.
Staff described the proposed action as an amendment rather than a change order because work had not yet started; staff said any additional change orders would still require board authority. Board members present indicated assent in the public discussion.
