Council adds Washington–Broad parking work to E&E Construction contract

The La Conner Town Council approved adding Washington Avenue and Broad Street parking work to the existing E & E Construction contract to streamline asphalt and curb repairs.
Staff explained that Public Works did not have time to complete the street and parking work in-house and that E & E had submitted a low bid for related line items; bundling the Washington–Broad scope with an already-awarded contract should improve efficiency and is covered within the project budget. Council moved and seconded the change order request and approved it by voice vote.
No additional appropriation was announced at the meeting; staff said the work is already budgeted for the parking project and consolidating the scope would reduce disruption by letting a single contractor complete contiguous work.
Staff will finalize the change order with E & E Construction and schedule the work within the town’s construction calendar.
