La Conner's Town Council approved a resolution to dedicate the Pioneer Park bandstand to a former mayor and authorized a rededication ceremony during the Pioneer Picnic on Aug. 7.

Staff said the Pioneer Association supported the rededication and that the family had been consulted. Councilmember discussion was supportive; the council approved the resolution by voice vote and instructed staff to arrange for a plaque and ceremony timing. Town staff will have a plaque made and coordinate the rededication with the Pioneer Picnic schedule and the family. Council members said they expected the event to be meaningful to the family and community and thanked the former mayor for service.
