In a report to the City of Lewistown Commission, Commissioner Robertson said airport officials anticipate one or two large new aircraft hangars on Taxiway E and described two major upcoming construction projects.
Robertson said a bid letting for replacement of a large World War II-era hangar door produced three bids and that the lowest bid was “in the low 500,” which staff later described as roughly $527,000. Robertson cautioned he did not have the exact number in front of him and that he was relaying a secondhand report. He said the low bid was “considerably less” than the other two bids, which were more than 50% higher.
Robertson also said the Federal Aviation Administration has directed regional funds to a large taxiway upgrade scheduled for the next construction season to upgrade remaining taxiways at the airport. He called the projects a “huge investment” in Lewistown’s airport.
No formal action was requested or taken on the airport items during the meeting.
