Council narrows candidate list, schedules interviews for city manager search

Titusville’s city manager search moved forward after council agreed to interview four finalists at meetings arranged by the city’s recruitment firm.
Scott Grama of the search firm told council the search originally produced a larger pool of candidates and that it is common for finalists to withdraw during advanced stages: “we do only have 4 candidates…good city managers don't stay unemployed very long.” The firm said it initially vetted about a dozen candidates and had several interview rounds; scheduling constraints and other hiring offers reduced the finalist pool.
Councilmembers discussed timing and whether to request a fifth finalist; several members said they were comfortable proceeding with interviews of the four candidates that remained. The recruitment firm said it will pursue more candidates if council is not satisfied after interviewing the remaining finalists.
Council directed staff and the search firm to proceed with interviews and to return additional candidates if the council judges the finalists not to be a good fit.
