The Benton County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, to consider a fiscal-year 2026 budget amendment to provide spending authority to pay salaries and withholdings tied to an MOU with the DAP.
County staff told the board that the MOU approved the prior week requires the county to pay salaries and payroll withholdings from a county fund; staff said current budgeted amounts were insufficient to cover the first payrolls and related indirect costs, including health insurance and regional mental-health fees.
A supervisor moved to set the public hearing for Aug. 5 at 9:30 a.m.; a second was recorded and the board approved the date and time. The auditor/staff was instructed to publish the hearing notice and prepare figures for the published amendment. Board members discussed aiming to postpone any budget amendment until September if possible, but staff indicated they need authority sooner to cover imminent payroll accruals.
