Plumas County signs website hosting and firewall agreements to modernize online presence and cybersecurity

Details: IT staff described the firewall as the sheriff’s office “perimeter” defense and said the purchase includes a cold spare to enable quick replacement if hardware fails without paying for separate licensing. The five-year licensing package covers software updates and support. The CivicPlus contract rolls hosting, ADA monitoring and social-media archiving under a single agreement and aligns web costs and accessibility tools.
Procurement and funding: The CivicPlus contract is funded as approved in the fiscal-year 25/26 preliminary budget; the firewall contract is paid in part by grants to the sheriff’s office and ARPA funds with no general-fund impact, staff said. Board members thanked IT and sheriff’s staff for the work and asked staff to return with implementation timelines.
Board action: Both contracts were approved in separate motions during departmental matters. Supervisors voiced unanimous support; staff will return with updates and will track implementation with the sheriff’s office and IT.
