The Perrysburg Exempted Village Board of Education was presented with a personnel recommendation July 7 to hire Jennifer Thompson as principal of Toth Elementary School.
District staff introducing the candidate said Thompson rose to the top of the search after an extended application period and building-level interviews. “The feedback immediately put her on the top of the list as a viable candidate,” a district presenter said during the meeting.
Administrators and teachers on the building-level committee praised Thompson’s classroom and instructional leadership, including her work using data to guide reading instruction and supporting teachers’ practice. The presenter told the board Thompson has experience “working with teachers, works alongside of them, and helping them find ways to improve what they're doing in reading to make sure that they can reach all students.”
The recommendation was included on the meeting’s consent agenda. The board approved the consent agenda by roll call vote, advancing the personnel approvals that were listed there.
Board members and attendees briefly gathered to welcome Thompson and take photos after the vote. No formal individual employment contract terms were announced at the public meeting; further personnel paperwork and official appointment steps were handled through the district’s administrative process.
