Director of Planning King told the council the property owner currently prepares food for the grocery store and is the main cook at Martinez Tacos; the owner intends to expand the kitchen space at 310 East Station Street for food processing for retail sale. King said the applicant indicated there is no current interest in operating a restaurant or catering from the site, though those uses are permitted by right in the zoning district.
The Planning Board recommended approval on June 17 by a 4-0 vote. Council members moved to suspend the rules and pass the ordinance the same night; on roll call the measure passed 12-0.
Ending: Planning staff noted that restaurant or catering uses would be permitted in the district without additional parking requirements, but the applicant said she does not plan a restaurant component at this time.
