The City of Springfield License Commission heard two customer complaints June 25 against Fastlane Auto Sales & Service, 18 Berkshire Avenue, and voted to dismiss both matters after hearing testimony from complainants and the manager of record, Noemi De Leon.
In the first case (complaint dated April 11), complainant Alfonso Clark said a 2020 Ford Transit Connect he bought from Fastlane experienced a transmission failure 11 days after purchase. Clark said the vehicle was towed for repair and that he was told the vehicle was repaired but had not picked it up. Clark said the repair delay left him paying car notes and insurance while without a vehicle and he sought compensation. Fastlane’s manager, Noemi De Leon, said the vehicle’s mileage exceeded a 30‑day/1,250‑mile warranty at the time of the issue and that the dealer assisted in good faith; De Leon said the vehicle had been repaired and that Clark had not collected it.
In the second case (complaint dated May 28), complainant Donovan Trejo said his vehicle registration was suspended after a check used to pay the DMV bounced; he said the dealership later resolved the registration but failed to respond promptly, which led to traffic stops. De Leon apologized for the inconvenience and said Fastlane cured the registration issue and that Trejo’s registration was up to date.
In both matters the commission noted it cannot order financial compensation; Attorney Schmidt advised that complainants seeking reimbursement would need to file claims in court or pursue the attorney general’s office. Commissioners dismissed both complaints after discussion and with encouragement for the parties to try to resolve outstanding matters directly or through civil claims.
