Deltona’s community events staff on July 7 presented the city’s summer schedule and details for a larger back‑to‑school event on Aug. 2. The calendar includes low‑cost and free offerings aimed at families and residents.
"The first is this Friday night at Satha Center is our Bonkers Comedy Club. Tickets are $8 if you purchase them in advance," Events staff said. The city’s amphitheater series continues with a free concert at 7 p.m. and the monthly movie in the park will screen Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle at Dewey Boster.
Events staff described the Aug. 2 Back‑to‑School Bash at Dewey Boster Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring the city’s backpack giveaway plus food trucks, face painting, music and free haircuts. Parks staff also reminded residents about a new playground program running through July 18 at five parks (Dewey, Campbell, Manny, Dwight and Festival parks) that provides organized supervised activities and a free lunch supplied by Volusia County.
Staff cautioned residents on timing for the free lunches: the county provides lunches on a schedule and late arrivals may not receive meals if delivery is delayed. The events presentation closed with staff encouraging residents to attend and advising commissioners of the program logistics.
No formal action was required; the presentation served as informational outreach on upcoming city offerings.
