Hollywood Park Deer Committee elects officers, sets Oct. 6 meeting

The Hollywood Park Deer Committee swore in reappointed members and elected officers at its meeting, voting to keep Doug Brown as chair, Debbie Truman as vice chair and Kathy Nance as secretary. The committee also set its next regular meeting for Monday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m.

Swearing-in of reappointed members was completed at the start of the meeting; the oath included a commitment to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state.” After routine approvals (minutes, financials and incident reports), members accepted nominations and voted by voice for the three officer positions. “Congratulations,” said the chair after the votes were taken.

The committee approved the April 14, 2025 minutes and the monthly financial report, which the chair summarized as showing a minor $270 expense for traps. Wildlife incident reports for the reporting period were approved by voice vote. No contested nominations or roll-call votes were recorded.

Members discussed meeting scheduling and decided the committee’s fall meeting pattern: hold the next meeting on Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. with an agenda to include Texas Parks and Wildlife updates (if staff attend), chronic wasting disease updates, predator-control updates, the budget, deer-management expenditures and review of the just-completed fawn count and upcoming fall census.

The committee reminded residents to volunteer for the Sept. 18 fall census and said public notice will be posted on the city marquee, the city’s “Get Connected” notifications and the city website. No additional officer business or formal changes to committee bylaws were made.
