Staff also noted discussion of the 2028 Olympics and its nearby shooting‑range venue; the city has formed an internal committee to explore opportunities to benefit from Olympic‑era investments and will research whether regional Olympic committees and councils of governments include local infrastructure funding opportunities.
Commissioners emphasized transportation and legacy infrastructure as priorities, asking staff to pursue conversations about transit and shuttle options and to explore whether Olympic planning could fund permanent improvements that would benefit South El Monte City beyond the event. Staff said it will continue contacting property owners, potential tenants and regional partners and will return with more details on opportunities and potential projects.
