Delano council members urge protection of immigrant residents amid enforcement reports

Mayor Pro Tem Nunez and other councilmembers discussed community outreach and the city’s sister-city work later in the meeting, and Council member Rosodio urged residents to verify claims circulating on social media before sharing them and pointed listeners to a local rapid-response network in Kern County for confirmed reports.
Rosodio said rumors have led to unnecessary panic in other places and urged care in circulating unverified information that can disrupt schooling or work. He also noted recent local business and housing developments during his remarks.
Council members framed their comments as both a defense of civil rights and a request for responsible information-sharing in the community. No formal council action or resolution on immigration enforcement was taken at the June 16 meeting.
