Delano Council approves moving meeting start to 5:15 p.m.

Resident Anthony Cortez said a new start time would not solve delays if presentations continue to run long and urged the council to set time limits for presentations and public comment. Council members noted that local school boards begin meetings at 5:00 p.m. without issue but that Delano’s schedule previously aligned its closed-session timing to ease school schedules.
After discussion, a motion to approve the revised meeting start time passed on a roll call vote: Council member Rosodio, Council member Solorio Luis, Mayor Pro Tem Nunez and Mayor Morris voted aye; Council member Linda Howe was absent. No amendments or follow-up direction to staff were recorded at the vote.
Councilmembers said the change is intended to reduce confusion and improve agenda flow; speakers urged the council to monitor presentation length and spread presentations across meetings when possible.
