The Administration and Enterprise Oversight Committee approved four workers' compensation legal settlements listed on the consent agenda and recorded the approval by roll call on June 23.
During discussion, Council Member Allison said these settlements have appeared repeatedly on council agendas and requested an update from the city attorney and risk management on how much the city has paid and the outcomes on contested claims, particularly those involving PTSD. Council Member Cashman asked whether any of the PTSD claims involve officers still employed by the Minneapolis Police Department; a city attorney representative and others answered that the committee should not discuss individual personnel matters in public and that risk-management staff would be the source for such details in a closed session.
Chair Ayesha Chugtai offered to reach out to the city attorney's office and risk management to arrange a closed-session briefing on the claims. The clerk called the roll for the four legal settlements (items 24, 25, 27 and 28) and the committee recorded three ayes and one nay; the motion carried.
