Ray said he has asked staff (Brandon Sly) to remove the tree; he said the tree was denied removal by a committee despite his complaints about safety and repeated sewer backups caused by roots. He said he is “old now” and cannot continue the routine cleanups he has been performing and that he intends to disclose the recurring issue to prospective buyers if he sells his home.
Council did not take action during the public-comment period; the mayor noted public comment is not a question-and-answer session but may result in referral of matters to city staff for follow-up.
