The Kirkwood City Council approved two resolutions accepting Sourcewell cooperative-contract bids to purchase sanitation trucks for the city’s sanitation department.
Resolution 48 authorized the purchase of a 2025 22-cubic-yard side-loader refuse truck from Key Equipment & Supply for $333,188.69 under a Sourcewell cooperative contract. Resolution 49 authorized the purchase of a 2025 25-cubic-yard rear-loader refuse truck with a New Way compaction body for $256,366.07, also under a Sourcewell cooperative contract.
City staff told the council the Sourcewell pricing is competitively bid at a national level and that delivery of these vehicles typically takes up to a year or may take longer. Staff said payment would be made on delivery and that budget appropriations would be rolled into next year’s budget to match delivery timing.
Council approved both resolutions by roll call. The purchases lock in current Sourcewell pricing and authorize the director of procurement to issue purchase orders when appropriate.
No additional funding sources or replacement schedules for existing trucks were discussed at the meeting.
