City staff told council the company expects to hire at least 10 employees, possibly up to 20, with an aggregate annual payroll of $977,600. Under the city's codified ordinances, the incentive program allows a maximum payment of $13,000 per year; the ordinance approved by council would authorize the company to receive that maximum amount for up to 10 years, subject to the program's requirements.
Mister O'Donnell told council the site formerly housed Keller Logistics and is near the UPS facility and the entrance to the peaking plant. He said the job creation incentive committee met June 16 and recommended the award.
Council had no substantive questions on the item, and the ordinance was adopted by unanimous recorded vote of members present; one member had been excused earlier in the meeting. The ordinance was presented on first reading by caption and adopted under normal procedures at the meeting.
Next steps noted at the meeting: the city will finalize the incentive agreement and implement monitoring consistent with section 191.04 of the codified ordinances to confirm job and payroll targets before incentive payments are disbursed.
